Comparision

Design

Denon AVR-X4700H has a wide flat front panel with Elegance Front. A silver color faceplate with black accents is set behind the front. Denon AVR-X6700H comes in an old-style black faceplate with a little silver accent on it. The design of these receivers are almost the same but they are not identical

Sound Quality

Both of them are audiophile-grade receivers, As amplifier section and sound quality both have 4K HDR support for best quality surround sound. Let's come to sound quality, AVR-X4700H uses 32-bit AKM DAC, and AVR-X6700H uses 24 bit 192 kHz Cirrus Logic DACs to convert the analog signal into a digital signal and process it.

Both receivers use 32-bit AKM DAC, that's why the sound quality is the same in both of them. We have measured 4K HDR-supported surround sound from both receivers and found a good result in a listening room with 10 x 12 feet.

A number of channels determine the power output by a receiver so you can calculate total power by adding a number of channels to the amplifier section. The amplifier section in AVR-X4700H is 7 x 125 watts and in AVR-X6700H it is 9 x 160 watts without any audio processing mode for multi-channel audio.

Remote Control

Both have a similar remote control but they are not identical, Backlit buttons in the black color body are featured on both of them. In AVR-X4700H there is no keypad whereas in AVR-X6700H number pad is present. We can say that users can use menu options without using the remote control as menu options are self-descriptive and easy to understand.

Here comes another difference between these two receivers, IR blaster is integrated into remote controls of AVR-X4700H whereas in AVR-X6700H it is not present. This makes a big difference as we can control many devices using an IR blaster from an angle of 180 degrees pointing directly to the controlled device because it's invisible.

Other Features

Both have similar features as they are built on the same platform, Both don't have Wi-Fi but Bluetooth connectivity is available only in AVR-X6700H for wireless streaming. In both, there is no streaming services-related feature but this could be added later. These receivers come with AM/FM radio tuner and Bluetooth 4.2 that allows pairing up to 8 paired devices simultaneously with A 2nd generation aptx codec that reduces audio lags during streaming music or video apps from smartphones wirelessly. Advanced audio distribution profile also allows streaming stereo uncompressed music to other maxed-out AV receivers in a wireless network.

User Interface

In user interface, AVR-X4700H has a clear GUI with white text on a black background and responsive controls while the AVR-X6700H has an old-style menu with black text on a blue background which is not easy to read and control because of this contrast issue. We will say that both have good UI but if we consider for better UI it should be AVR-X6700H as it uses the modern trend of UI design and besides this UX and EI were also upgraded in AVR-X6700H.

Conclusion

If we consider just sound quality then Denon AVR-X4700H is the winner because it uses 32-bit AKM DAC which is great in sound quality, in AVR-X6700H 24 bit 192 kHz Cirrus Logic DACs are used. If you need more features than this is for you but if your main concern is just sound quality then go for AVR-X4700H or else AVR-X6700H.
